Welcome to

Grateful Hearts Bennington

Gather,

Cook,

Nourish.

MISSION:

Grateful Hearts Bennington crafts delicious, nutritionally-dense meals that energize and improve the vitality of hungry people in our greater communities with local produce that may otherwise go to waste.

We will support and collaborate on educational and sustainability initiatives to foster a lifestyle of wellness for our community and the environment.

Gather

We gather “just out of the ground” harvests from local farms, ingredients from regional producers and sourced vegetables and staples from the VT Foodbank.

30-40% of the food supply in the U.S. is wasted.

Cook

“Clean, colorful and close", the philosophy that drives the design and creation of meals for recipients.

Clean: Mostly organic whole ingredients.

Colorful: The colors of the rainbow in the diversity of our plant-forward meals.

Close: “From the field to the pot as quickly as possible.

“Clean, Colorful & Close.”

Nourish

The whole community wins when our hungry neighbors are nourished.

  • Improved health for recipients.

  • Support for local farms by purchasing produce that may otherwise go to waste.

  • Reducing the community's carbon footprint by minimizing waste and shortening food transportation distances.

Better nutrition translates into better health.

“Grateful Hearts fundamentally provides valuable nutrition, which is incredibly important to those experiencing homelessness as many have not only experienced food insecurity but also health issues impacted by nutrition.”

— Stephannie Peters, Executive Director for the Bennington County Coalition for The Homeless

Grateful Hearts meals provide our patients healthy meal options during times of need. Whether they are food insecure or looking for heart-healthy options after a diagnosis, Grateful Hearts meals help create a culture at home of health and wellness

— Kate Bryan, Battenkill Valley Health Center
